    A fun week...

We spent the late afternoon and evening of July 4th with Mom and Dad G. and Lee and Marie and Marie's Dad picnicking at a park. We brought Subway sandwiches, snacks and drinks and just lounged around while we waited for the fireworks show. Aidan had a good time because he was so excited about the fireworks this year. Allan even bought some sparklers for him that we had planned to use that night but they got confiscated by the police at the entrance. We saw people with sparklers last year but I guess this year they're being more strict. So, Allan bought Aidan a spinning light toy and he had fun spinning himself around on the grass.

Then Tuesday afternoon we left for San Diego. We stayed at the Hilton Gaslamp and it was a really nice, clean hotel. We checked in and then we decided to walk around and see the shops at Seaport Village and have dinner there.

Here's my handsome boy and I at the San Diego Pier Cafe. Allan and I both had a sea bass dish that was way too much for me. And we were both excited to have their clam chowder because we remember it being so good, but unfortunately we were disappointed. It was a bit thick and salty. Oh, well.

The next day we spent on the beach at Coronado. Once again we bought sandwiches from Subway and we were able to find a spot close to the famous Hotel del Coronado. The sun was beating down but it was tolerable. The only thing was that the water was really cold! I can't tell you how excited Aidan gets when he's at the beach. He loves it when the waves come and we were standing where the waves would reach up to his chest. He didn't want to get out of the water even when he began shivering. We stayed there for almost 3 hours. I had wanted to soak up the sun so my arms and legs would even out in color but then I realized (doh!) I couldn't lie on my stomach. :(

Later that night we walked around the Gaslamp Quarter. We had dinner at Buca di Beppo and ice cream and coffee at Ghirardelli's. They had the best chocolate ice cream I ever tasted.

So Thursday comes and we still couldn't get enough of the water. We took advantage of our hotel's pool and we were so lucky to have it all to ourselves! It only went from 3 to 5 feet so it was perfect! Aidan got to practice floating on a board but he spent most of the time at the 3 ft. end where he could stand. I was proud of him though that he was brave enough to dunk his head under the water with me. He would stay under for about 4 seconds.

After the pool, we were debating on going to Sea World or taking a tour bus down to Tijuana. I really wanted to go to TJ but decided not to and play it safe since we didn't have our passports with us. The concierge told us that 90% of people go down there with only their driver's license as proof of citizenship, but that's not the law. I didn't want to take the chance, especially since we had Aidan to worry about. So we skipped TJ, skipped Sea World and just hung around our hotel room until we got the hankering for rice. We satisfied our craving at a Panda Inn located at Horton Plaza.

And now we're home! Yay! We love our home just as much as going on vacation.

(BTW: If you haven't checked it out yet,
