We had a somewhat busy weekend! I guess because Aidan and I stay home all week I so enjoy galavanting about. But even though Allan is at home with us he's busy working so I think he prefers to just stay home and veg or play Warcraft for hours on end. Too bad for him he can't say no to me!

Friday we went to watch King Arthur. I was eagerly anticipating this movie but, alas, it wasn't everything I thought it would be. I just didn't get into it and I came out of the theater with too many complaints. I give it a B, maybe even B- for the cheese factor.

Then on Saturday we took Olie to his first vet appointment. Poor puppy whined just a little when he got his shot. The doctor showed us how to clean his ears and then he got two medications, one for his poop and one for his cloudy nose discharge. Then we got those Sentinel pills and we were amazed that those things cost $10 per pill. And they came in a 6-pack! Geez! Also, Olie has a condition called cryptorchidism, meaning one of his testicles haven't yet descended, and the doctor told us that it can be corrected when he gets neutered. I read that this was a common disorder for Pekingese dogs. Olie won't have any puppies of his own :( Oh, but we have good Olie news to report! We keep his crate now in our butler's pantry area and we use two gates to keep it enclosed. He stays there during the day when we can't watch him and then at night when we sleep. Usually we bring him outside to do his business every hour or so, but a couple days ago I got the idea to just put a paper bag in his area and see if he would go on it. Well, he did which was exciting for me! (I think he's use to paper because his cage at the pet store was lined with shredded newspaper.) The bad thing was that he would pee on the paper but he would poo wherever. Yesterday and today, he began pooping and peeing on the paper and I'm ecstatic because, one, he practically trained himself, and, two, I'm expecting minimal mess on my floor! Yippee!

Then Saturday night we went to Pomona Valley Mining Co. to celebrate Dad's upcoming birthday. We had lots of good food but Aidan was the only one who didn't appreciate it. Aidan doesn't care for eating. This picture says it all...

    and here's all of us...

And, lastly, today we went to one of our (at least mine) happy places, IKEA! Aidan wanted to play in their supervised kids-only area called Smalland so we let him. Allan and I spent the first five minutes peeping through the windows. We were nervous! We watched him play inside this giant shoe and then he walked around probably wondering what to play with next. His play time was limited to only 45 minutes but we spent half of that time wondering what he was doing! Ai ya! What am I going to do once he starts pre-school?
