So I've lost 10 pounds since my on-again-off-again fitness phase began in February...I would have to say the main contributor to my weight loss has been the
South Beach Diet. Although I've been really annoyed with all the commercials touting the low-carb lifestyle, I have to admit that I'm one of those people who have benefitted from it. At first, it's impossible to believe that you could actually lose weight by lowering your carb intake. My first three days on the SBD were filled with skepticism and by the fourth day I was feeling so abnormally tired, but I got over the hump and began seeing the results. I'm able to wear these pants that didn't fit me when I tried them on last Christmas. The diet relies on the theory that if you cut out the sugars your body will lose its craving for them and, if you read the book, there are testimonials from people who seem to view bread as their enemy. Now I didn't want to be like that. There are so many other things to be scared about in life and the last thing I will be afraid of is a little bread or rice. And there are times when I seriously need rice. You cannot eat most Filipino foods without rice...sinigang, kare-kare, adobo. It's just weird. So I haven't cut carbs out of my life, but since I started the diet I've definitely been eating less of it. After losing the weight and seeing results, now what's impossible is for me to go back to my old ways of eating heaping scoops of rice two or three times a day. I drank soda last weekend but that was the first time in months.

Since going on the cruise, I'm afraid I haven't been as careful as before but I really want to take care of myself now and not gain back what I've lost. I want to start exercising again everyday but right now I'm sick. I realize I've got only three months until we go to Florida.

Last weekend, Allan and I began painting Aidan's room and it was really fun. We're not finished with it yet. We probably have one more hour worth of work to do. Poor Aidan was so excited and he really wanted to help but I kept envisioning bad things happening. I'm going to let him do some stamping on his walls though just to let him in on the fun.
