For years I never thought I could embrace a style of art. But after last weekend when Allan, Gigi and I went to see an exhibit at LACMA, I fell in love with impressionism. What do I like most about it? Impressionist paintings feel like they're more infused with life than ones painted realistically. I don't mean infused with the life of the object painted, but with the life of the painter. I just read a bit about Vincent van Gogh and it's has changed my thoughts about painting. And I don't want to get too weird on this but I think there's a much deeper, emotional aspect of painting that I need to consider.

I had done this painting a while back and piled it on my "blah" pile but I picked it up again today and tried to do something "impressionistic" with it. The trouble is that I lost my reference image and so this didn't really turn out to be my impression. Just an exercise to get back into the groove again.
