i took aidan to the park today and met another mom with her 4-year-old girl. her daughter and aidan started playing together so us moms struck up a conversation, me-listening and her-talking. all i asked was 'how old is your daughter' and she proceeded to give me her daughter's bio. i mean i love talking about aidan but there's a certain point where you have to stop yourself because it'll all start to sound like gibberish to someone else. she said to me, "she's so intelligent. she can recognize the alphabet and she's starting to read. i don't know any four-year-old who can do that." i wanted to say "sorry to break your heart but my son's not even three and he can recognize the alphabet" but i just smiled and said "that's great." really, though, it's nice to talk to other moms and see how their children behave and what they know. i'm always wondering if what i'm doing for aidan is enough and what more can i teach him. he had alot of fun at the park today and it was really nice seeing him interact with other kids. we'll probably end up going back tomorrow even though it's so windy.

i'm also getting anxious about the impending war. i hope that it's over quickly and that saddam and his sons are removed from power. i read about some of the atrocities that they've caused and i think that there has to be something done. there are those anti-war voices out there saying that Bush should exhaust all the possibilities before mounting war on iraq, but i wonder what more is there? what if he has exhausted the possibilities? i'm praying for all the innocent lives involved and i hope soon that we'll live again in peace.
