    DARN THE TV

Aidan turned 23 months yesterday! He seems like he grew overnight, or maybe it's just the effect of his haircut. Anyway, the day before yesterday he did something that surprised us all. We were sitting at the dining table with his crayons scattered about and he took one of his crayons, held it between his middle and pointing fingers and put it to his mouth. Then, he said "Like guy breathing fire." (What a description!) I was really taken aback that my son was imitating someone smoking a cigarette. We asked Aidan who he saw "breathe fire" thinking it must have been one of his Lolos (grandfathers) and he said "the guy on TV." Well, now I know that we have to be mindful of our television viewing. Aidan, for the most part, doesn't pay much attention to the TV except when we watch the Disney channel and when there's an interesting commercial on. I wish I had watched the Oprah episode where the topic was how much the media influences our children. A little boy burned himself because he saw someone do it on TV. It's really sad and I guess it's a good thing that we haven't made the TV a habit. If anything Aidan will grow up to be really dramatic because we watch "All My Children". Oh, on a lighter note, he's started to say "I'm ______ (tired, sleepy, sitting here, playing, etc.), which is cool because he use to refer to himself in the third person as in "No nappy time for Aidan-boy." Yeah, he calls himself Aidan-boy. Cute.
